“洞蜜园”港式茶餐厅老板娘游念慈（薛家燕饰）年轻时是小有名气的警界警花，追求者不少。自从嫁给茶餐厅老板金华（罗乐林饰）后便辞去职务，一心打理茶餐厅生意并照顾金华一家人的饮食起居。不久金华去世，慈姑母兼父职，继续与金华的妹妹金纱纱（苑琼丹饰）合力打理“洞蜜园”的小本生意。十八年后，金华与前妻所生的三名子女长子金年（林文龙饰）、次子金月（谢天华饰）和幼女金日（陈彦行饰）长大成人。一家人感情和睦，但在琐碎的生活中也发生了不少风波和插曲，但都是“皆大欢喜”的美好结局。 443集现代都市长篇情景喜剧《皆大欢喜时装版》又名《皆大欢喜现代版2》，由薛家燕、梅小惠、赵学而、陈彦行、林文龙、谢天华、廖碧儿等联袂主演。本剧集故事背景转为现代香港，继续讲述这一家人喜怒哀乐的生活故事。
