少林寺内住着一个天真活泼的小和尚，名叫开心（曹骏饰)，年仅八岁。他聪明过人，深得方丈喜爱，愿望是与生母重逢。皇上病危，急召方丈入宫诊病，并立遗诏传位于十一皇子。 方丈大吃一惊，原来开心小和尚就是十一皇子，因脚上有七星痣，民间传说脚踏七星，能敌千万兵，皇上恰巧名万兵，皇上忌讳，便暗中托方丈照顾，连王妃也不知道这个秘密，误以为儿子已死。 遗诏出了问题，方丈不知如何是好。十皇子胸怀大志，但安国公有极大权利，十皇子处境艰难，被迫离开皇宫，到江湖学艺，希望有一天能获得皇权。他为此而结识恒山弟子云剑飞等武林中人。 安国公女儿安阳郡主天性刁蛮，她与剑飞、小凤、开心小和尚结识，与剑飞更成斗气冤家，却又互相被对方吸引。她明白了父亲暴行后，站到了正义一方，最后剑飞与开心合力把安国公消灭，开心并让位给哥哥，要他做一个好皇帝，回到了少林寺。剑飞与郡主有情人终成眷属，浪迹天涯。
